MISSION STATEMENT OF
CALVARY BIBLE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
of the NORTHERN LEHIGH VALLEY
Vision
(what the future looks like when we 'succeed')
Calvary BFC exists to glorify God by leading His people to be fully
dedicated followers of Jesus Christ. (Mark 8:34-38, Acts 4:13)
Purpose
(Our calling, who we intend to serve, what we offer, what benefit they will
derive)
By God's grace, Calvary BFC will glorify God by serving, submitting, and
fellowshipping with Him as we provide opportunities for Christians to be
involved in worship, evangelism, discipleship, and fellowship with each
other. (Acts 2:42-47)
Core Values
(The convictions that will shape our decisions)
WORSHIP We worship God as supremely worthy with sincere hearts and
according to biblical truth. This worship includes reading and preaching
God’s Word, music, prayer, tithes and offerings, and the practice of the
ordinances. (Psalm 96:7-9; Psalm 95:1-7; John 4:23-24; Colossians 3:16;
Hebrews 10:19-25; Revelation 5:11-13)
PREACHING We emphasize strong expository preaching of the Bible as
the powerful and effective means that God uses to glorify His Son, honor His
Word, edify His people, and save sinners. (Isaiah 55:10-11; I Timothy 4:13;
II Timothy 3:14-4:5)
RELATIONSHIP We promote love and fellowship for all in the family of
God, thereby strengthening Christian homes and marriages. (Psalm 133; John
13:34-35; Acts 2:42-47)
MATURITY We provide a program of Christian education and discipleship
to promote spiritual growth for each age and level of spiritual maturity in
our congregation. (Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:28)
PASTORAL CARE We care for God’s people by a consistent program of
pastoral counsel and oversight. (Jeremiah 23:4; Acts 20:28; I Peter 5:1-4)
COMPASSION AND MERCY We serve the physical and material needs of our
congregation and our community. (Isaiah 58:6-7; Acts 6:1-4; Acts 20:35)
MISSION We advance the good news of Jesus in the Northern Lehigh area
and the whole world through an active program of evangelism and missions.
(Psalm 96:3; Mark 16:15; Revelation 7:9-10)
AUTHENTICITY We want to respond naturally to God, avoiding behavior
that draws attention away from Him and to ourselves. "He (God) must become
greater … and I must become less." (John 3:30)
GENEROSITY God is the giver of everything, so we willingly and
generously give back to Him. “The generous man will prosper and be
satisfied; he who refresh others will himself be refreshed.” (Proverbs
11:25)
JOY We encourage joyful expressions such as laughter, happiness and
having fun together. ".. . Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD."
(Psalms 144:15)
CHANGE We welcome change as God transforms us into a more effective
force in our world. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of the world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind... ."
